There are 51 new weeks ahead of us, packed with ideas, developments and surprises. In light of these new challenges, we would like to look back once again on the successful, past year of 2017.
The year began excitingly with the pooling of forces, of the freshly united companies GRP and FLS. For 38 years the two companies have worked together as a partner – since January 2017 we grew together to form a team. The resulting momentum produced some launches and innovations at both companies.
Although – or because – we are longstanding companies, GRP and FLS continued to pioneer in 2017. And as pioneers, the development teams work tirelessly to create safe and comfortable ways to optimize your manufacturing process. For example, the GRP has been closely associated with the IKV of RWTH Aachen University for many years and continues to promote research into new solutions for Industry 4.0. And our membership of the OPC Foundation and the AZL Initiative also enables us to network more closely in the area of research and development.
Industry 4.0 is now a term that should be known to everyone. But as well as he is, so are his definitions. Many companies therefore do not know what added value this abstract term should have for them. At our Ins-Schwarze-Treffen event in Boppard in September, we were able to answer this question in more detail and demonstrate the added value for the manufacturing industry using concrete examples from industry and research. In addition, we of course have been athletic and made the name of the event and hit the mark. We are looking forward to the next round in spring 2018.
We developed and released many updates and innovations last year. We are particularly proud of the successful implementation of our web applications. The MES applications no longer have to be installed locally but can be accessed via the browser. This gives our customers even greater flexibility and user-friendliness. Another important development of this kind is our GRP mobile app. With it, the customer can now view the key figures of his production from any mobile device. Whether the manager wants to see on the go how the production runs or whether the production manager wants to see the latest numbers and problems – GRP Mobil creates transparency! We are happy to continue on this path and continue to expand our web applications.
The recognition for our development wealth not only comes from the customers: Within the scope of the CeBit in Hanover GRP Mobil was awarded with the innovation price IT of the Initiative Mittelstand. In addition, we again scored points in the jury of the Top 100 in June and are among the top innovators for the second time in a row! The award ceremony in Essen’s Colosseum will be remembered for a long time to come.
Above all, we were able to convince the Top100 jury through our close cooperation with our customers. We develop the applications and solutions that suit your company. This sometimes results in solutions that others can benefit from. This close customer loyalty often leads us to visit the respective plants. This year it took us across Germany and to Austria, Hungary, Italy, France and Switzerland. Our CEO Manfred Keuters, who visited our customers in China, took a particularly long journey. With these great impressions in tow, we are happy to set off again this year to continue our internationalization.
So while we are now stowing away the last Christmas ornaments, leaving the old year far behind us, we are plunging eagerly for the year 2018 and are busy forging new software solutions!
